A simple thought is worth a million gifts. Yesterday, I met two lovely blogger friends - Arundati & Nandita and they gave me a beautiful notebook with the two small miniature dolls as my wedding gift!. Thank you ladies and hope to see you again next week.
It is always fun to meet & 'see' the faces behind your favorite blogs! Arundati, Nandita and myself met at Coffee Day in Banjara Hills today. It was all fun and laughter and one of best one-hours spent :) :)
I was skimming through our showcase (in hall) for something and found these, kept side-be-side. the one on the left is mine and on the right is my sister's. My mum & dad are proud parents for two 'Best Students' in the school. ;).
There is a reason why it is commonly said that - 'Mom's cooking is the best!'. Yesterday, she made this amazing chutney with coconut & raw mango. OMG! with hot rice and a dollop of ghee, I was in pure heaven. She was all happy-happy when I took this pic and said I will post it on my blog!. Love you mom.
Coconut Mango Chutney
1/2 fresh coconut, cut into small pieces
1/2 raw mango, cut into small pieces
8 green chillies
salt - to taste
usual tadka mix - urad, jeera, mustard seeds, hing
Grind - coconut pieces, mango, salt, turmeric and green chillies until chutney-like consistency. Heat oil, fry tadka ingredients with curry leaves until brown. Mix into chutney.
'Tambulalu' ceremony between both the families happened back home today in some of our close relatives presence. Once this is done, both parties can start inviting and give away marriage invitation cards to everybody. :)
I love TODAY!..So many wonderful people around me made it truly memorable - First thing in the morning, I logged into my gmail and I see my lovely blogger friends congratulating me on my post. Then, in the afternoon, my office colleagues gave this surprise bridal shower. :). To be really honest with you, it took me a minute to register what was happening. When I read the words 'Bridal Shower', I was like - W.O.W it is really happening! I AM indeed getting married.. hehe.. I know that sounds funny, but you get what I am trying to say.
It sucks to go to work on a weekend. But this warm and hearty 'Thai Curry Soup' @ Au Bon Pain made my day...and Oooooh!, I fell in love with lemongrass..again! it tasted so good, when I dipped small bites of 'Rosemary Focacia' bread in it. yummy!
Can you imagine a 26 yr old, crying non-stop reading a book. Yup, that is me and the book is 'The Last Song' by Nicholas Sparks. Should I be ashamed of myself ? Does it every happen to you too? I promise, I tried so hard not to. But I did, it was so difficult not feel the same emotions as the characters do. You know, I do that while watching a movie too. S always feels so embarassed every single time, but it is so hard to control. Any tips for me???
He is my all-time favourite author. If I were in a bad mood or need some humor in life, I would just read a short story about Bertie and Jeeves. There is no way that I wouldn't LOL!..I have read almost all of PG Woodehouse books and 'Thank you Jeeves' is my latest one. As always, it was thoroughly enjoyable.
With my boss M, today we headed to a place called 'International Square' in DC for lunch. The best part was this beautiful huge fountain which is right in the middle with couple of eateries around it.
..but it was a nightmarish dosa that ruined my day. Just to experiment, I took a 'Falafel Dosa' and it was awful. I still wonder why I ended up choosing that out of so many options available. I mean the batter was stinky with oily falafel in the middle. So, I threw the whole thing, drank some coke while watching this fountain. The only thing missing was a book in hand.
I would love to go there again, but this time stick to my usual 'known lunch menu' :)
A very very dear friend and office colleague of mine P gifted me this watch and perfume bottle today as my M-gift. I will surely miss them all and am gonna definitely cry the day I leave this office. Everybody here are such nice and wonderful people that I am truly blessed to be there from past 2 years!
..(Fruits + Yogurt) is a combo made-in-heaven. I love it the brand , 'Wallaby Organic Yogurt'. the fun part is the fruit is at the bottom, hence the name - Peach Passion, down under ;).. this is the yummiest, hands-down and above in the pic is my this week's supply!.
It sucks to be so far away, especially when you have your M-day is coming up. Mum, Dad & Sis are very busy with the preparations and every day I pester them to fill me up with things happening, hence the tag What's Happening Back Home (WHBH). you see, I don't wanna miss a thing. ;)...so the other day, I told my mom & sis about this project and begged her to take some pics and send it to me on a regular-basis. ..my plan is to put them up here, so when I look back, I have all my memories in-tact, in-order.
..here is the first one my mum sis sent a new chandlier which we bought yesterday for our living room.
..it was just an another busy day at work and when I came back home, the latest edition of Vegetarian Times was waiting at my doorstep. ..and the 5 recipes featured are -
1. Red Cabbage Salad with Pears and Walnuts
2. Cabbage Casserole with Leeks, Ricotta and Pine nuts
3. Cabbage Calzones
4. Hot and Sour Napa Cabbage
5. Egg noodles with Cabbage and Chard
