Remember this place near the San Mateo bridge, which I posted way back in May 2010. Me & S went back yesterday - well for a fresh breath of air for me and for him, it was to enjoy his Starbucks coffee.
The day before I was boarding my flight to CA, my friends at work took me for another farewell-dinner at Angeethi in Herndon VA. the food - was well less than ok but when you have some awesome friends with their family around, food becomes secondary. Isn't it. I had a fun time folks. Thanks a lot! will miss you all.
I had my official farewell lunch at Va Piano , China town today. With its upbeat ambiance and yummy food, it became an instant favorite for all of us (esp first-time visitors). It still surprising how most of us in the group missed this amazing place all these years. A must visit for all Washingtonians out there :)
..and today is my last day here at office. these 2 years were definitely the best times of my life and would miss everybody. thank you all, if it were not YOU, I would have never been the way I am today.

If you would ask me to name one restaurant in DC that I would go again & again is Zaytinya. though it is a bit pricy (and certainly won't recommend for a very big group), the food is just superb. It is a mezze-menu so if you are really hungry, order 2-3 dishes. My all-time favorites are - Falafel, Hummus, Zucchini-Cheese fritters and the unlimited bread that they give with olive oil.
Mike, my boss took me here one last time, as my mini-farewell lunch. P.S I was too hungry to take some food-pics!
We, at our DC office are always curious about what kind of van would arrive at the junction (just below our office) every single day. Today, we had a cupcake van called 'Sweet Bites' by a lady called Sarah. they were decently good-tasting and I had a Red Velvet with Vanilla frosting cupcake. yum!
My favorite seasons are Spring and Summer (winter, my least fav.) for its beautiful flowers and greenery all around. I took this pic right in front of my house. Its amazing how many different variety of plants sprang up in that tiny patch of land.
It was supposed to be a blogger meet with Sala of Veggie Belly. But, the day turned out to be much more than that. I ended up cooking with her for Karma Kitchen at DC. More on KK, click here. Thank you Sala for giving me this opportunity, to experience and realise that there is still plentiful of generosity and oneness left in this world! :D
..craving for some gourmet cupcakes? If you are in DC area, you have to try some Georgetown cupcakes. Each and every cupcake is unique in taste and fresh as they are baked daily. They even have a reality-show on TLC - 'Cupcake Sisters', which starts in July & will follow the lives of Georgetown Cupcake founders Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne as they build and promote their booming cupcake business.
My friend P got a brand new Honda Civic and today we took it for Vahana Pooja. (Car pooja). It is a ceremony where the priest, in the Lord's name blesses the car to keep it safe from any mishaps et al.
'Flour Tortilla Pooris' - I never heard of these before and my colleague P's friend U introduced them,at her anniversary party today. They were absolutely delicious. "this my shortcut and easiest way to satiate my poori-craving" she says. As U fries one-by-one, all of them vanish in matter of minutes. There was also - Chole, Sambar with rice and some non-veg entries. We had a lovely time playing 'Guess the Word' till late night. :) :)

Remember this photo, where I was talking about Sweet Water Tavern. It is a nice, noisy place where the usual wait on a Friday night is atleast 70 minutes. We had a reservation and the memories of the simple angel hair pasta with grilled vegetables came back to me. So, I ended up ordering the same thing, like last time and with that, I tasted Grilled Artichoke with Garlic Aioli dip! Yummmy :D :D
Rarely I crave for any sweet stuff and today, I wanted a pound-cake, right before an important meeting (in like 15 minutes!). So, ended up with this. The taste was ok, not great but it did satisfy my sweet temptations for the day!
Fojol Bros of Merlindia (http://fojol.com/), are a bunch of Caucasian guys dressed up in Indian turbans with fake mustaches in their food trucks hit the DC roads everyday, during lunch time. They normally have 2 Veggie options and 2 Meat options with Rice for 6$ or 9$. I will not say the food is exemplary, tastes the same as in any mediocre Indian restaurant out there, but everything else about them is fun and enticing, including the sweet talk by the guy who takes the orders. ;)
I recently came to know that the company will donate proceeds from food sales to local children’s charities.. :) :)
It was early morning when we started off for work (after 3 days of *no work*, it darn hard, I must say!) and I took this pic as P's place...I am in love with her community - very serene and nice place to live!
