Vegas = Gambling = A Fake hope that one would win millions in one shot!
So, I had to put my luck to test - chose a random slot machine and spent 50 bucks - all gone in 10 mins. That was definitely my fastest 50$ ever spent. At the end of my 10 mins, all that was left was 40 cents.
Well, there is always a next time and at least I tried my luck!. ;-)
"O" is all about water aerobatics and "KA" is based on fire. I have to say - my favorite is still "KA", the reason being it has an engaging story and the stunts that the actors perform with fire is mind-boggling.
P.S - Photography is an absolute no-no during the show but I quickly snapped a picture during the first initial act just for remembrance sake.
We stayed on the 47th floor of Vdara, the newest hotel & spa built in the City Center and the views from our french window were absolutely gorgeous.
On one side, we have distant hills and some plain plateaus and on the other we have Bellagio & its very famous Bellagio fountains. :-). Now that is something. Isn't it. I highly recommend staying in Vdara the next time you visit Vegas.
Las Vegas is a fascinating city and before we leave this country, one last visit to this city of dreams was an absolute must. When we visited last time, the most ambitious project in US history - the City Center was still under construction and now that it is open for business, we were looking forward to stay in there and just soak in all that this city has to offer. :-). This would be definitely one of the things I would miss the most.
With a heavy heart, I canceled our Netflix subscription today. :-(
Since the day, I have known about it that is way back in 2006 - I was just hooked. I had watched countless number of movies, popular TV shows like Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, Gilmore Girls, Sex and the City, Lost, Heroes etc and thanks to instant streaming, for every Sunday's lunch, we had a heist movie or a thrilling espionage movie playing on our TV. :-)
If you are a Trader Joe's fanatic like me or not, you gotta try this - Low-Fat Apricot Mango Yogurt with Granola (also available in Pomegranate flavor). Oh my! the granola adds a wonderful crunch and makes all the difference to this humble yogurt. It is indeed a yummy combination for just 99 cents. Isn't it a steal-deal?
P.S - Get more than a couple like I do and you are all set for those busy, hurry week-day mornings. :-)
Sreelu of Sreelu's Tasty Travels gave each of us this colorful measuring spoons set and Saks of Cracked Chronicles gave us all some yummy Belgian Chocolate thins. Well, the former are pictured on the side and the latter were finished by the time of this pic. these spoons are so cute that I don't even want to use them. :-)
Thank you so much Sri & Saks for being so warm & thoughtful. wish I did bring something for you guys too.
Remember this 1 Rupee note? I saw this in Srini's wallet today and for a moment transported back to my childhood days where there was a certain value for this. atleast we used to get a handful of jamuns. (guavas) with some salt & chilli powder sprinkled on the four halves. :-)
Recently, RBI launched a 150 Rs coin, things have certainly changed a lot and we have come long way from this ek rupaiya ka note, in just 25 years!
No, I am not a great fan of beer. I dislike its taste, its smell and don't understand how can somebody drinks mug fulls of it in one sitting.
Now, you would ask me why this pic then? I was helping out Srini in creating a pamphlet for his class project and the idea was "Beer Sugar". Just add it to a glass of water and there you have instant beer. Innovative idea? huh? ;-)
I am pretty well known for my love for Eggs in friends and family. :-). I end up making something with eggs almost for every 2 days and today it was a yummy, spicy egg masala. Click here for the recipe.
It was definitely one of the best GNO's I had after a really really long time. Almost allfiveofus met each other for the first time and we had so much to talk and so much to share. :-). Thanks you girls.
We are a huge fan of mexican cuisine and for about 4 years, our all time favorite hang out place was - Qdoba Mexican Grill. Their "Mexican Gumbo" is to die for. Now, we miss it so badly as it has no locations here in Bay Area. :-(. Next to Qdoba is Chipotle. We can never get bored of it. Can we? :-).
For a change, we wanted to try Rubios today and it was ok. Chipotle is still our fav place here and on East cost - Qdoba wins hands down!
It always feels good when things go well, when one's hard work thats put up over several months is paid off and we get things to work just as expected. Yesterday was the *deployment day* and the day turned into mid-night (and into eerie early mornings for some) with some good news.
I slept for 12 hours straight (ya, my husband had to forcibly wake me up) and feel a bit relaxed and to get all geared up for more such happy moments in near future.
I am still at work and it has been a (still is a) loooong, never-ending day as it is our D-day meaning the *deployment day*. All that we have worked so hard for from past 8 months will be put to test and released to the world.
“The tragedy of human life consists in our vain attempts to stretch the limits of things which can never become unlimited, to reach the infinite by absurdly adding to the rungs of the ladder of the finite.”
~ Rabindranath Tagore
What happened today in Japan due to the earthquake and tsunami is utmost tragic.
May their souls rest in peace and I pray to god that he gives all enough strength to get through these tough times.
I have received a host of spices beautifully wrapped - from ground cinnamon to allspice to whole nutmeg (pictured above). I never knew whole nutmeg could be so 'sensual'. Thank you Monica. you definitely opened up a new world of spices to me. :-)
Remember this post, where I won a Hurst Bean Box for My Legume Love Affair # 31. I finally got the package today accompanied by a sweet letter congratulating me. :-). In the above pic, you can see a bowl full of pasta fagioli. I can't wait to make something yummy out these - pretty soon.
Yes, these days - I feel like I am the tiny little fish from the cartoon on the side.
P.S - I have got this picture on my other blog long time ago and don't even remember the source of it. This pic depicts my current state of mind perfectly so I am taking the liberty of using it for my Project 365.
I strongly believe that some photographs are just special for the fact that they have the magical powers to hold loads of memories within them. and this one here reminds me of all the good times I had during my stay in Virginia/Washington DC. I have met some beautiful people out there and made some friends for life. :-). I will always always treasure my experiences from there forever - and ever.
I own a modest number of cookbooks and my favourite past time, especially on weekends is to browse through them and actually imagine how I would make that recipe...I think cookbook browsing is very addictive and most of the times result in severe hunger pangs. What do you guys think? ;-)
Whenever I miss home (India), I grab a back of these little goodies from the Indian store. and by the time I reach the final aisle, I swear I finish the whole packet and have one more - for some nibbling to do later, once I reach home. :-)
It is very rare that I unleash my inner artist in me ;-). It was a looong, tiring day so as usual I was browsing through my archives for an interesting pic and I found this which I drew for Mango Mantram. Here are some more.
