Week 30/Day 211 - Sugar-rush Saturday Week 1

Today was the first edition of Mads weekend baking workshop - Sugar-rush Saturday and what a fun day it was, filled with loads of baked goodies, fun, laughter, dancing and random ramblings. Each and every recipe turned out absolutely delicious, but hands down the Star of the Day was this - No-Bake Eggless Strawberry Cheesecake.

We all must have had atleast 2-3 servings of this cake & we wanted more of it with each bite. :-).

Week 30/Day 207 - Fresh Eggplants, ready to made into Dahi Baingan

Have been meaning to make some Dahi Baingan for a long time. Had some beautiful green japanese eggplants in the fridge and finally did it. Served with rotis. Yumm!!!

Recipe is very simple: Cut eggplant into pieces and cook in a pan with little oil until tender. In a bowl, mix yogurt with turmeric, salt, chilli powder and fennel powder. Add this yogurt mixture to the eggplant and on medium-high heat, cook it for couple of mins. Serve.

Week 30/Day 206 - More Flower Love

The reason I love flowers is for the fact they are so pleasant to the eye and each one of them is so unique in shape, fragrance and colors. Here are all the flower photos that I posted before and am sure there are more to come!

Week 30/Day 205 - Baby Smiles...

As Muhammad Ali said - "Children make you want to start life over". Playing around with Baby K who is just 2 years old, that is what I felt. They talk without any inhibitions and with so much innocence that you become one of them and would never want to grow up again!.

Week 29/Day 200 - The Joy of Childhood

“There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again.”

~ Elizabeth Lawrence

As I watching this little kid playing, it reminded me of my care-free-childhood-days where there was nothing to be worried about, everything taken care of by people around us.

I want to be a little kid again!

I got this keychain couple of days ago. With some studded stones, it is beautiful to look at and became a subject for my not-so-exciting-day day, today!

Week 28/Day 196 - Flowers have character..

Flowers have an expression of countenance as much as men or animals. Some seem to smile; some have a sad expression; some are pensive and diffident; others again are plain, honest and upright, like the broad-faced sunflower and the hollyhock.

Week 28/Day 195 - Harry Potter, I will miss you!

Super fun day today which started with an amazing team lunch at Khansama @ U B City. Then in the eve, we watched for the very last time - Harry Potter & Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 3D. The entire theatre was filled with die-hard Potter fans and I loved every minute of the it just for the fact that there was so much cheering that was going on, the entire time. :-). It couldn't be better than this.

Week 28/Day 194 - The Leela Palace

When I was a kid, Bangalore was always synonymous to "The Leela Palace" for me. I have heard so much about its grandiose, that I was fascinated and was waiting for an opportunity to visit & have a sumptuous meal out there. My wish got fulfilled last week. (more on that in a later post).

Here is the picture of a young Rajput prince taken in The Leela Palace.

Week 28/Day 193 - Prayer

(from archives)

I am angry. I am sad. I am heart-broken at what happened in Mumbai today. Why are these innocent people being targeted every single time and is there no value for human lives anymore?

My heart goes all our for the victims and May the souls who have lost their lives rest in peace and I pray to god that he gives enough strength to their families to get through these tough times. :-( :-(

Even before you enter our apartment, you will see this wall hanging (near our neighbor's door). Every time I look at it, I am intrigued to know what these women were thinking at that point of time. ;-)

Week 27/Day 189 - YRTML: Vegetable Sagu

What a week it was. I loved exploring each & every blog, their recipes and cook from them. Trust me, I had so many choices that it was hard to choose one. Coming to today's recipe, I had & made many kinds of Sagu. But Deepti's version on her blog - "Some Salt..To Taste!" is a little different as it has ground chana dal-coconut mixture to thicken it up which gives a nice flavor to the dish. We had it with left over chapatis & it tasted yummmmm..

The only thing I did is - I roasted the chanadal with coconut, chillies & cumin seeds before grinding them. Here is the recipe.

Thanks Dee. It sure will be a regular in my house from now on.

Week 27/Day 188 - YRTML: Fried Egg Sambal

You all know my eternal penchant for Eggs. Today I made a malaysian dish called - Fried Egg Sambal from Nags's blog - Edible Garden. Originally my plan was to make her grandmom's recipe - Egg Lentil Omelettes in Gravy / Guddu Thattu Posinti recipe, but I didn't have grated coconut on hand, so chose to make the sambal as it is basically omelette strips dunked in tamarind-tomato-onion gravy. What not to like about it and we both licked our plates by the end. :-).

Thanks Nags for sharing such lovely recipes on your blog.

Week 27/Day 187 - YRTML: Stuffed Bread Pakoda

Today, it was raining all evening in Bangalore and a perfect time to munch on some fried goodies. I chose to make Stuffed Bread Pakoda from my dear blogging pal DK's blog - Chef In You. It was absolutely delicious and was a meal in itself for us. :-). Definitely No-One-Can-Eat-Just-One.

Thanks babes for such a yummy recipe. I have made Bread Pakoda before but never a stuffed one.

Week 27/Day 186 - YRTML: Baingan Bartha

The day Anu blogged about Tamba's Baingan Bartha, I bookmarked immediately as it brought back a lot of memories of our first trip to Las Vegas. Here is my comment on her post on

Feb 19th 2011 -

Let me tell you my story here. I went to Las Vegas couple of months ago to the same eerie looking Tamba restaurant in that complex and had the same baigan ka bhartha. Wow, that is coincidence or what. those pics are so homey and yummy. I have a coil burner, so envy you for those phulkas. :-)

Siri

I had a coil burner all-along my stay in US and now the luxury of a gas-burner. No longer do I have to be envious and is a perfect timing to make her Bartha.

Did we like it? Nah! We loved it.  :-). Thanks Anu.

Week 27/Day 185 - YRTML: Oats Kharabath

After Lataji's Race Kuzhambu yesterday, I made some utterly delicious "Oats Kharabath" today from Mads blog - "Cook Curry Nook". She is brain behind FSB and to me personally, Bangalore didn't seem to be a new place at all, thanks to her constant support, in almost everything. Thanks babes.

Week 27/Day 184 - YRTML: Race Kuzhambu

Your Recipe Through My Lens (YRTML) is where I cook recipes from my dear blogger friends blogs and click a photograph. Hence the name. This week's theme is YRTML: FSB special. I am sure you all know about Free Spirit Blogging by now. I will choose one-recipe-each-day from them, cook and post a picture.

..and Today I have made "Race Kuzhambu" from Lataji's blog - "Flavours and Tastes", a super-duper recipe and tastes awesome with steamed rice. Would you believe if I said, I ate it all and there is nothing left for my poor hubby. It was that good. A perfect comfort food, in my opinion.
