This newly released pink Micromax Bling 2 was a birthday gift to my little sis . She was obsessed with it for god knows how long (though I am not a great fan of it, personally speaking). It is made with Swarovski Zirconia and comes with a white leather carry case enclosed with a compact mirror and special pouch. The Home button is encrusted with Swarovski crystals again.
Definitely not my type, but looking at my little sis glowing face, I feel for this phone a little. :-).
I love lighting diyas. I think they symbolize divinity and sanctity in oneself. But I always had the electric ones as long as I was in US with a fear of burning down the house. Since, we moved back to India and because here the buildings are built with concrete rather than just wood ;-), I have started to light the 'real deepams' again.
These are some simple pleasures of life which I missed living in states...
It was the year 1613 when the British first stepped onto Indian soil and for the next 334 years, they ruled us. On August 15th, 1947, India became an "Independent India" and by 2011 it rose to become an "Incredible India".
A salute to all those martyrs who sacrificed their lives so that we could "see" and "live" in a country free from colonialism. Jai Hind!
My mom, dad and little sister are in town. Yipeeee.
...and this in my first Varalakshmi Vratham (after moving back to India). Just their presence made the day so special and memorable. It reminded all the care-free days of my life - before marriage, before moving US, when I was studying college - my mom used to cook and me & my sister were just chilling out :-). thank you mom, you are the bestest ever and today is one of those days when I feel so glad and happy that we finally took the plunge to move back and be with you guys!. :-)
I always have a tins filled with atleast two to three types of legumes, already cooked in my freezer. The days when I am late and totally exhausted, all I have to do is thaw them a little and dunk them a onion-tomato-gravy. :-).
How to cook dried legumes: Soak them in filtered water for 6-8 hours. Discard the water and pressure cook them on HIGH heat. Let the pressure be naturally released. If using Rajma (kidney beans), cook for 5-8 mins and for chickpeas - 9-14 mins.
Inspired by Roops A-Z P365 and then Sig's, I have started my own from today on, until the next 26 days. The moment I saw this cute little whisk at Mads house, I wanted to photograph it. I wonder what made this cute little dude to get angry ;-)
Its been ages when I sat up whole night and finished a book in just one day, in one sitting!. Stir It Up, a novel by Ramin Ganeshram was one intriguing novel which talks about passion and determination to chase one's dreams, sprinkled with many recipes at the end of each chapter.
I strongly recommend this book for one and all, not just teens. :-). An absolute must read.
