morning ritual..

Do you like the cup? I got a plain white cup from a thrift store and hand painted it. :-)

"The sun is new each day." ~ Heraclitus is mine.

Funny how my morning ritual changes from time to time, depending upon where I am. When working in DC, for two years I ate this breakfast from Cosi, every single morning without missing a day. Then I moved on to this and then this.

Right now, my mornings are more meditative in nature. It is like I hit a reset button to erase all the things (that can be ignored) from the previous day so that I start afresh; as if God has given me another opportunity to get it right! I wake up by 6 am and brew a hot cup of masala tea + read newspaper along with it. This is my *me* time and I never start the day without it. By 7, the huzz-buzz of the day starts and it just continues till I hit the bed in the night. It is like a never ending cycle and that is the reason I treasure my mental reset button so much. It gives me the energy and right frame of mind to carry on with the day without any excessive baggage. A new addition to the to-list is to pen a few words for #writealm before the day ends. Quietness of the night steers new thoughts in me yet again and its refreshing to write before sleeping instead of staring at my Iphone screen until my eyes hurt. (one of many not-so-good habits am trying to stay away from!)

  1. I'm with you! I need that quiet time in the morning to get my head straight and clear out the clutter :)
