Day 82 | Never Stop Learning..

It is hard to believe that we came to the end of #30x30DirectWatercolor2018 journey and today is the very last day. This month long challenge has really pushed me to try different techniques and taught me to just be comfortable painting - irrespective of the outcome. I will not lie, it was also exhausting to come up with ideas and show up every single day. With work and home duties, some days were so hard that I just wanted to quit (so glad I pushed through ☺️!). Now that we are done, I could use a small break to rejuvenate. Time to pick up a few books from my growing TBR pile and do something different with my free time until Watercolor Summit, which starts in August. Hooray!

Day 77 - 81 | "I am my own experiment. I am my own work of art." ~ Madonna

"Believe you can and you're halfway there" ~ Theodre Roosevelt. My first watercolor wreath and I am a quite happy how it turned out. Hope you all have a great week ahead.

"If I were a flower.. I would be a sunflower. To always follow the sun, Turn my back to darkness, Stand proud, tall and straight even with my head full of seeds." ― Pam Stewart. This piece of artwork is inspired from Pinterest. I am finally able to understand how to do color mixing and using masking fluid techniques.

I am self-admittedly obsessed about painting watercolor patterns. Their abstract and repetitive nature are perfect to empty my restless mind. And an added bonus - they help improve my brushwork.

"It always seems impossible until it's done" ~ Nelson Mandela

After many months of practicing watercolor, I finally bought a jar of masking fluid and here is a fun attempt - a relatively simple piece where the flower areas were protected with the fluid.

Day 72 - 76 | "To draw you must close your eyes and sing." ~ Pablo Picasso

Youtube is such a great resource for fun, little watercolor tutorials. Today's piece is inspired by this city skyline. video. So simple to paint and beautiful to look at.

San Francisco is an eye candy for those who are interested in urban sketching. Sadly, I am always in a hurry to go in and out of the city for work and to notice the lovely architecture around. But today, I took moment to click a picture of a building I pass almost every single day. And it was such fun to capture the essence in watercolors.

Another city landscape pattern today I saw on @lisacongdon's watercolor class at Creative Bug. The brain goes into a meditative mode when I make such simple, colorful art and it is my form of tuning out from what's happening around me. Such precious, rare moments I wouldn't trade anything for.

#30x30DirectWatercolor2018 challenge has been😍 and I can’t believe I painted almost every single day of this month so far. That is an accomplishment in itself considering how inherently lazy I am.

Day 67 - 71 | "Creativity gives hope that there can be a worthwhile idea." ~ Edward de Bono

A brand new week is about to end and it is time for Fri-yay again! Hope you all have a good weekend ahead!

“A flower blossoms for its own joy.” ~ Oscar Wilde

I want to call this piece - “Tree of Life”, a daily reminder that change is the only constant.

"The more often we see the things around us - even the beautiful and wonderful things - the more they become invisible to us. That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world: the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds - even those we love. Because we see things so often, we see them less and less." ~ Joseph B. Wirthlin

Hope you all have a great week ahead.

Day 62 - 66 | "In the creative state a man is taken out of himself." ~ E. M. Forster

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence." ~ Helen Keller

“The morning sun is out and bright
Easing into all that was dark and blight
Forcing night sneak away without a fight”
- Richard L. Ratliff.

Hope you all have a great week ahead.

“Good morning! May a chorus of birdsongs welcome your day, and may they fill your heart and soul with peace, joy and love for the coming day.” - Anthony T. Hincks .

Today was one such day that dragged on and on. Hitting bed early to rejuvenate and for a fresh start tomorrow. Good night world!

Day 57 - 61 | "To be an artist, you need to exist in a world of silence." ~ Louise Bourgeois

Same as yesterday’s color palette and this time, here are some ripe watermelon slices to beat the hot summer days!. πŸ‰πŸ‰

"How much better is silence; the coffee cup, the table. How much better to sit by myself like the solitary sea-bird that opens its wings on the stake. Let me sit here for ever with bare things, this coffee cup, this knife, this fork, things in themselves, myself being myself." ~ Virginia Woolf ☕️ Happy Hump day everyone!

"Behind every successful woman is a substantial amount of coffee.."

When I am attempting a monthly challenge of sorts, I love following a particular theme as it relieves my wanderlust mind wanting to do everything, all at the same time. 😝 Last week it was mostly “Coffee” art and this coming week, I plan to paint a bunch of watercolor “Silhouettes”.

Today, let us take a deep dive into the sea to watch some turtles swim. 🐒 What say?

Day 52 - 56 | "In the mind of every artist there is a masterpiece” ~ Kai Greene

It has been a while since I posted on the blog. Days are just slipping away between work, home and doing nothing significant. Because I need a kick in my b*** to finish my 100 Days Of Art (2018), I have decided to take on the #30x30directwatercolor2018 challenge by @marctaro starting this June 1st. Though he name suggests to use only watercolors, I am going to add black waterproof liner whenever necessary. So stoked already! 😍 This daisy piece is inspired by @airyfairyletters

Let me start my #30x30DirectWatercolor2018 journey with a nod to my favorite beverage and a quote I relate to the most these days - "Coffee...because adulting is hard!#@#$#@^#$". I made this piece from @mariyakey's skillshare class on watercolor coffee illustrations. I think I am slowing getting a hang of the ever-elusive wet-on-wet watercolor technique. Still a long way to go.

Growing up, I was never a home bird. Every free moment was spent outdoors or with friends. Now, in my thirties, much to my own surprise, I appreciate solitude so much more. ☺️ Give me a cup of hot joe and a good book, you will not hear a beep from me. Happy weekending everybody!

Back in February, when Zakkiya (@inkstruckstudio) posted a watercolor coffee illustration tutorial, I was immediately mesmerized at its beauty and simplicity. Today's piece is inspired from it and because it is a Sunday morning, I am still procaffenating...

Giving the coffee art a mini break, here are some watercolored strawberries I did for the first time. Not bad huh? πŸ“ πŸ“Sure, we usually find strawberries all year round but I eagerly wait for June-July when the real, ripe, juicy ones hit the farmer's markets. ☺️D Happy Monday everyone.
